They don't know that I have it and I hate myself for it everyday and have for 3 years now. Surgery is expensive and I don't know if they would let me get it since it is up to $5,000. How do I at least tell them so they have it in mind? How do I tell my parents I have gynecomastia and that I want surgey for it to be removed?
I assume you are a teenager. This is not an uncommon thing for males this age. If you are overweight that may be the cause and losing weight will magically help! There are however some medical conditions which may cause this so you should see your doctor to rule out any hormonal imbalances.
If you are not overweight and a medical reason has been ruled out by a doctor then you can be refered to a surgeon. I'm not sure if they would be willing to operate on a teen (you may have to ';shop around'; for a surgeon that's willing). Your parents probably are aware that you have this condition (unless you wear enormous shirts that can hide it). Talk to them and they can take you to the doctor.
Good luck! How do I tell my parents I have gynecomastia and that I want surgey for it to be removed?
Wow. Dude i feel bad for you. I just looked it up online and wow. Man, i hope nobody knows because you would get made fun of like crazy (i assume your in middle school or high school because that is when it happens). I think that you should tell your parents and maybe they will be sympathetic for you and tell them what it makes you feel. Tell them how horrible it is for you and maybe they'll get the surgery for you.
i dont know how old you are, but i know surgery is not the first option for it. i recommend that you talk to your family doctor first. if you also get headaches and have a high blood pressure, it could be a pituitary adenoma, that is a benign (non cancerous) growth in the brain that could be easily removed by surgery. or maybe it could be a side effect of a medication that you are taking. talk to your doctor first and then move ahead.
i just looked that up on wiki and that would suck. how old are you? it says it happens to young boys going into puberty or ol men. my advice would to ask you parents to have dinner, just the three of you and tell them afterwords. good luck man, wow.
