How do you convince your parents to let you get a belly button piercing?

I'm 13 and really want my belly button pierced. My mom keeps saying ';That's nice but i'm not letting you get it.'; or ';When you're 18 you can get whatever you want.'; Every time I show her information she just gets more mad. I'm trying to get my friend who's 18 and has one to convince her but she just keeps saying ';I don't think don't think so.'; How do I convince her it's not that bad?How do you convince your parents to let you get a belly button piercing?
Uuughhhh !!!!! Same here !!! I'm just a year older .How do you convince your parents to let you get a belly button piercing?
My mom was the same way, and there are very good reasons. One is that there is a stigma attached to a bellybutton piercing; they're seen as trashy by a lot of people. Another is that it's a more 'major' piercing, one that's less socially acceptable, and therefore shouldn't be done by minors. Another is that bellybutton piercings are prone to infection, and sometimes extremely severe ones.

You're not going to convince her to let you do it by harassing her about it. You might ask her the reasons why she won't let you, and see if there's some way around it (like if she says she's worried you won't take care of it, work extra hard to prove you're responsible.) But chances are she's set in her decision, and you'll just have to wait.
13 is too young for any kind of body modification. Maybe you could compromise with your mom on getting it done when you're 15 or 16. Then you'd have had more time to think about it and weather you really still wanted it.
Well to convince my mom i worte her a letter, but 13 is a little too young, i waited till i was almost 16.
uhh your 13 no one needs to be looking at your belly button

no offense...

just wait till your 15 or something
I got mine done for my 13th birthday, and it also took me a lot of convincing to allow my mum to let me get it done. Your mum has good reason to say no,obviously at 13 though, you are still growing, and at that age your body is still gong to change a lot. Infection and problems with piercings are very likely with people who are not willing to keep the area clean and looked after,so If you can prove to your mum that you will look after it very well and keep it clean that would be a good start to getting her to think about it. The only time i have had a problem with mine, was at gymnastics at school where I caught it on a beam. Have you thought about having sports classes where you might catch it on something? That may be something to think about, how about if you put it off a couple of years until you didn't have to do as much PE at school, because it can be a pain, and believe me, you wont get to sit out of lessons with a sore piercing :P However, if you are still sure you want it done, sit down with your mum and explain that you are getting to an age now where you are beginning to look after your body, and know what you would like. Although, remember if anything goes wrong and you are left with a scar, that could be there for life, and what about having children in the future? It will stretch and you may not be able to wear the jewelry after that. I don't regret getting mine done at all, however thats 5 years i have had mine done for, and now the novelty is begingin to wear off. I do love it, and ill keep it for as long as possible, but just remember what you want now might not be the same as what you want in 5/10/20 years time.....

Good luck with convincing her though :) x
