How can I ask my parents for a cell phone?

I really want a cell phone so me and my friends can keep in contact better. But I can't really ask my parents if they will. I always feel that if I ask them, I'll be tied to a fence post and be stabbed to death. So is there a way that I can ask them without getting nervous?How can I ask my parents for a cell phone?

Well I know it might seem silly, but you could write the question to them in a note so you don't actually have to face them. And if you do just ask, don't worry, they won't kill you! It'll either be yes or no. You could agree on something, like you could work for it. You could mow the lawn or do some other chore. If you work hard and talk it out (or write), I'm sure they'll let you eventually.
Before you ask them, do some extra work around the house, help them out, and stuff like that. Then, ask them. If they say why, then say that you've been really responsible, and think you can have one. That's what I would do, to take some nerve away.
