How can I persuade my parents that I need a base guitar?

And it isn't just common girls that want to be in bandsHow can I persuade my parents that I need a base guitar?
Try this:

'Mom, dad, I need to play the instrument that's usually played by frustrated guitarists and which people usually spell wrong, plus nobody knows what it's for, plus it's longer and heavier than a normal guitar and needs correspondingly larger amps, but at least the sound of me practising will be relatively low-frequency and muffled, unless I get one of those bass fuzzboxes, but that's not necessary - anyway, I really, really want to be a vital but seldom-noticed and seldom-appreciated figure in a modern rock band! Finally, there aren't as many of us as there are guitarists so I won't have to be all that great to get a gig. Please? Pleeeeeease???'

If this doesn't work, send me your parents' number and I'll make the case myself. How can I persuade my parents that I need a base guitar?
Prove to them you can play the thing!
At least learn that it's a BASS guitar...
Have you even taken lessons to demonstrate that you can play with proficiency? That would be the first step.
1st of all, it's bass. 2nd of all, why not work to earn the money and get it yourself?
Sod that dude. Get em to buy it for you. Tell em it's because music is the breath of the soul and without it you will never be complete. I've got a guitar (not bass mind you) and I LOVE playing it whenever I get the chance. It's so relaxing and chilled out.
keep begging, thats what i did, finally after a year and a half, they let me buy a guitar, with my own money, cause my parents are, i dunno...tight? your parents probably just don't want to let you cause they have some concerns, just promise them you won't play loud. it might help
You don't need a bass guitar, you want one, and you're going to get one, you're going to get one no matter how hard you have to work for it or what sacrifices you'll have to make. Then you're going to learn to play it, you're going to learn to play it real well, you're going to get a band together, write brilliant songs and be excellent.

And you will have done it all for your self, you owe your success to no-one, and when you look back you'll realise that the easiest part of it was saving up to buy an instrument in the first place, everything else, you really had to work hard at.
You can start by learning how to spell bass guitar.
No biggie, but it is spelled ';Bass'; guitar.

First of all playing bass is a great way to learn to improvise.

Second, playing bass greatly broadens you musical skills as the bass is essentially a rhythm instrument right along with the drummer.

Third, every tune, in every band, sounds better with a ';Bottom'; (bass line).

Also, the Bass is the easiest to learn to a level where you can play in a group at a beginner to intermediate level.

Learning to play the bass well in complicated Jazz isn't easy at all. But beginner bass only takes a couple of weeks to learn to rock out.

Lastly, and most importantly......there is a much bigger demand for bass players than there is singers, guitar player, or drumers. You have a better chance of getting a gig.

Trouble with playing bass is to do it well, you have to be the smartest player in the band.

Good luck, sweetie

PS: Get yourself a cheap Fender Squire, four string, Jazz Bass, and a Peavey Bass amp. Great start, and very reasonably priced. Comes in pretty colors, too.

I don't recommend you buy a Five string, or a big expensive amp, or Bass until you have some experience, and a direction.
I was just going to say its bass. You could get a part time job, save up, and then ask for a contribution. Then they might feel that youre serious about it.
how much is it?
But it is just common people who join bands. Embrace...rock is for the scum of society.
Raise half the money on your own and demonstrate you really want to do this.
