  • How can I convince my parents that I need braces?

I need them, but they won't budge. They don't feel that I need them, but I do. I hate my gap and everyone in my school and my friends have straight teeth. I think I will look a lot better with straight teeth. How can I convince my parents that I need braces?
Ask them to take you for a consultation. The consultations are free, and they can probably get your orthodontic insurance from their jobs. My braces cost $5000, but my insurance paid half. I only pay like $100 a month, and I have them.

Most dentists will insist you get them, so you should tell them to ask your dentist. Braces have been proven to help teeth health. You're more likely to get cavities if your teeth are crooked. How can I convince my parents that I need braces?
Awww, my parents were the same way. My sister wants/needs them and even though they have 70% coverage, they wont budge! Parents are just stubborn sometimes

I suggest: The next time you are at the dentist, talk to him/her and see if he would be willing to talk to your parents about it. Having a professional opinion goes a long way with parents! He will probably explain the life-long benefits of having straight teeth (Easier to keep clean, boosts confidence, makes people look more professional, etc, etc)

    Good luck!
Make sure you go to a good orthodontist. I went to one that wasn't good and I had braces on for 3 years and all that was fixed was my gap. So I now go to a new orthodontist and had to get my old braces taken off and new ones put on. It hurts so bad. My teeth are so sore. And now I have to have another year in braces. So if you're gonna get them go to a good place. Because im sure you dont want to have braces on for 4 years like I have to.
They are quite expensive. That is probably why your parents are more geared towards your not needing them. However you might be SoL until you can afford them yourself. You might consider seeing if they would go half, or what your medical may cover if any. Then you can try and save up to get them yourself. I know there can be alot of things a teenager wants but you have to pick whats most important. To your parents putting food on the table and cloths on your back might be their priority, but with money you earn, you decide what yours is.
Go to the dentist and ask him/her, if you need them. if you do ask him/her to talk to your parents about the benefits of having braces. your parents might not want to get them right now because braces are very pricey : ) hoped i helped.
Just go to the dentist and get a ';check up';. And ask them if you need braces. They will either assure you that you don't or you do.
Explain to them how self-conscious they make you feel, but then take action and look up budgets and different orthodontists that fit their budget comfortably. They'll probably be impressed with your initiative.
Maybe they can't afford to get you braces,
you might be able to fix your gap with a retainer
    go to the dentist.

How do I ask my parents for birth control pills?

I get agonizing cramps every time, sometimes lasting for 4 days. My acne always gets worse. I have mood swings. I'm irregular, never on time, so I never know when it's coming.

I'm 16, I don't have a boyfriend and I've never had sex, but if I do ever get into a heated situation I want to be as protected as possible (with a condom of course).

I've asked my parents before, and they didn't take me seriously. How do I ask my parents for birth control pills?
maybe just try sitting down and talking to them about it and explain the reasons although you run the risk of them thinking you are having sex. if you cant talk to them or they say no you could go try going to a planned parenthood or whatever kind of free health clinic in your area and get birth control from there which will be very cheap or even free until you are 18 and you dont have to have parental permission. i went to planned parenthood and have been on birth control for about 2 years now i think and it has helped my periods a lot and my parents dont know about it and i didnt have to pay just leave donations if i have money to give. How do I ask my parents for birth control pills?
You are 16, that's when I got my first BC pack and let me tell you: the very best thing about the pill is that you will hardly have cramps (if you do they'll last for like 2 seconds) and your period will be like 2 days long. And yes it does wonders for acne. I've had a friend with horrible irregular periods that the doctor prescribed her BC just for that. Tell your parents that your periods are not normal nor healthy and that you want to go to the doc for suggestions. I bet anything the doc will bring up the pill. Have your doctor speak to your parents about the benefits of being on BC and how it will get rid of the pain and discomfort your period is causing every month ( and the protection! they can't be stupid ). And FYI, I got mine without my parents knowing when i was 16. If you have a planned parenthood or free clinic in your area they can give you them not only for free or little cost, but you don't have to have your parents consent.
Just go and get them yourself.

Go and talk to your doctor about these pains and what not and they might recommend the pill to you.

If not go and get them yourself and ask if it would help you.

You dont need to tell your parents anything, but if they ask just say the doctor recommended them for you.

If they ask or you want to tell them then go ahead. But your old enough to get pills by yourself
    OH.MY.GOD.

god, go to a women's health clinic.

    don't ask your parents, ffs.
Don't ask them then go to your doctor!

Can we do a step-parent adoption by ourselves in the state of Texas? How easy is it to do?

My husband and I just got married, and I have a daughter from a previous relationship. Was wondering if it is a relatively easy process to get a step parent adoption going without the help of an attorney? Does any one have some useful links or a step by step guide on how to handle it?Can we do a step-parent adoption by ourselves in the state of Texas? How easy is it to do?
Hey! I'm going through pretty much the same thing you are, only my childrens bio hasn't signed over his rights yet. I've been doing research on the internet for awhile now trying to get information. I found a couple links that might be useful to you. Like you, I'm new to this (my husband and I got married almost a year ago) so I hope this helps some. Good luck %26amp; congrads on the new family!!!

not sure about Texas, but some states require you to be married a year or two before step parent adoption (to make sure the marraige will work) Most all adoptions require a lawyer or agency and a court room. some states require an adoption homestudy even for step parent adoptions. (background check, references, interviews). To make sure he's not a child molester or abuser. The bio fathers rights have to be terminated. First, go to a lawyer to inqure the process.
Please give it a while don't pull your daughter into this until you are sure hes not going to change on you .. i know people who greatly regret having had their child adopted by their now ex- sometimes things are better left alone ....

And by no means do iut under diress or under threats ....

you would need to prove that the real father of this child has abandonded her had no contact for at least 1 year prior to taking it to court but this still is step i would not ever consider...

it could keep her clear of future procedings considering 1/2 of all American marriages end in divorce ...I magine the chlid having to split her time between you and him when hes of no blood relation ...

How do I convince my parents to get me a cell phone?

I really need a cell phone. Everyone in my class has one. I don't want a prepaid one and I already said I would pay for it. Please Help! How do I convince my parents to get me a cell phone?
Just do something that would impress your parents....like good grades or something

and ask them inreturn for a cellphoneHow do I convince my parents to get me a cell phone?

[you can convert any verizon phone into prepaid]

Well, sit them down and explain exactly why you want to get one. Here are some points to bring up in the conversation:

*If you had any sort of emergency, your parents could be contacted immediately.

*If your parents had an emergency, you could be contacted immediately.

*You paying for it by yourself will give you a sense of responsibility.

*You should try it out for a month and see how it goes.

*Ask to make a compromise. (e.g, do dishes every other day)

That's pretty much it. I must warn you, don't deal with Bell. They are very expensive. Been there done that, not going back again.

Hope I was of some assistance! ;-)
oh wow this brings me back, and I'm only 19 lol.

Well I got my first cell phone when I was 11, but to convince my parents I made up a plan on how much everything would cost. When I planned on using it, what for. Basically just show them you did your reaseach, and your responsible.

How can I get my parents to get me a laptop?

I am 11 years old and my sister has one and my parents are getting 1. I've wanted one for years! How can I get my parents to get me a laptop?
Say pleaseHow can I get my parents to get me a laptop?
I think you are too young for your own computer. Sorry, but why doesn't your family get a desktop, especially so you can use it under their supervision which is very important in your age when you surf the internet or so you don't play games you shouldn't play.

BTW, ask them why you are nor getting a laptop and try to understand their point of view. Laptops are really expensive, money doesn't grow on trees.

And ask yourself: why do I want a laptop? What do I need it for? Tell the answers to those questions to your parents.

I find it very difficult to understand why you want a laptop. Why not a desktop? Why does it have to be portable in your age?
Study as hard as you can, get good grades, do your chores and basically be a model son/daughter. Then ask for one as a reward. If that doesn't work...well, it's *their* money after all.
walk in on them when there having sex and ask them then.

Or better yet, catch one having sex with some one else and ask them then.

    Guaranteed win!
have you ever asked? make sure you say please when you ask

How do i get my parents to let me have a lizard?

I have enough money to buy one and to take care of it for a while. I told her I will pay for the whole thing. Our family has two dogs and i am the only one that takes care of them i feed them i pick up their dog poop and everything. How do i get my parents to let me have a lizard?
Well first, you want to specify what kind of reptile you are wanting them. Some have such exacting care...one thing is off and it dies a painful death. wnyherp.org has some great care sheets and so does petco.com petco has a checklist for everything you need to buy. look up the exact information but these are probably the things you need to buy

    heating bulb

    basking bulb

    infared night bulb

    uvb/uva emitting bulb

20-55 gallon tank depending on what you want

    substrate

    water dish

    food dish

    climbing branches, vines, hiding areas

    thermometer

    humidity gage

    weekly food

    calcium supplaments...

things to hold all your bulbs in....

its very costly buying everything first, and i think thats how you can show youre mom, buy one big part each week, or a couple little parts each week, get everything set up and show her how well you organized everything. then say...mom %26amp; dad, i really love the looks of my terrarium, can i get my pet now? A Bearded Dragon would make an awesome starter pet, just research everything and show your parents you are capable of seeing when its healthy or when its not.... and when its not let them know you can afford to take it to the vet.... or just wait until you move out.... either way....research and buy everything first...and then get the reptile. How do i get my parents to let me have a lizard?
    Ha ha! Kids.
tell them that u will take good care of the lizard with out there help.
well it depends on what sort of lizard you want and i am sure you know its not as easy as a cat or dogs. So i would find the type you want, do as much research on it, find out if you got the space, can you cope with the high humidity some need, if it needs live food which most do can you store them and feed the food. some are not east to tame. Try spending a couple of days with someone who has them so you can feed them and clean them out etc. If its your first lizard you may want to choose an easy one like a leopard gecko there small, cute, easy to clean out, easy to feed, don't need additional lighting other than a sense of night and day, etc. you could also find a animal care college they may let you help out for the day or something.
    hi,

they are sacred of lizard make ur parent familiar to lizard

tried 2 show the good point of it . if ur friend have it tried to bring home ad let ur parent touch it after some time u will find the changes in them.

    best of luck
It seems you have enough responsibility for a lizard. My parents did not want me to have a lizard either. I just kept telling them that I had enough responsibility to care for em.(other than the fact that my allowance is crickets. lol) Just be perserverant! :D
    easy. dont tell them.

tell them ull buy a pet crocodile instead
Tell them to get you one on a trial basis. That means that you get it for a week, and they see how you take care of it. Then, they might say yes. Also tell them that lizards are the longest living pets, so they wont die untill your an old man. Would that make it mor sad??? (Sorry, Are you a girl? Then an old woman.) :-) Hope thiis helps and have a great day!

    -question001
Tell your parents that you will keep it in your room and the first time that you don't take care of it than you will find it a new home. I believe kids should be able to have a pet of there own as it starts them with responsibility and make sure you buy everything it needs from your money.
tell them that you will take care of them hold them and u clean everthing else that u think u have earned responsibility
well it depends on weather or not your parent even like reptiles to begin with they may be trying to stall long enough for you to forget about it but if your serious about getting a reptile show them how your ready for a reptile by reading up on the creature and check out what it would take for the lizard to be comfortably housed
Save your money for the college fund. After you graduate and get a job you can buy all the freaking lizards you want.
